🎨 How to color it

Color the pumpkin a soft tangerine, the beanie sky blue with a cream pom-pom, and the acorns warm brown beside golden oak leaves. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the pumpkin’s big curved sections, saving a sharper crayon tip for the little berries and leaf veins. Try making the beanie stripes alternate blue and lavender so it feels like a cozy October surprise.

The story behind this coloring page

Pippa’s First Leaf Path — Under the straw roof of the pumpkin stand, Pippa pressed her chilly stem into last year’s itchy leaf. Read the full story →

Under the straw roof of the pumpkin stand, Pippa pressed her chilly stem into last year’s itchy leaf. The wind went whoo through the pumpkin patch, and acorns tick-tick-ticked on the ground. She wanted the little blue hat she had seen on the fence post, but the path to it was full of crunchy leaves and rolling nuts. Pippa took one small wobble out. Crunch. Then another. Crunch-crunch.

Halfway there, a tiny field mouse popped from under an oak leaf, shivering. “May I hide from the wind?” he squeaked. Pippa paused. Sharing meant the hat might not fit just right. Still, she nudged the warm hat down so the mouse could ride beside her stem. Together they wobbled home, smelling dry leaves and sweet hay. The hat was crooked, the mouse was cozy, and Pippa felt a new warm spot inside. If you spot her blue hat, can you tell which side is saving room for a friend?
