From the warm towel pile, Nola heard plip, plip, plip in the tile washroom. She set herself a challenge: count five round bubbles without getting one paw wet.
One bubble bumped the tub. Two smelled like lemon soap. Three made the rubber duck squeak, “Follow!” Nola stepped over the rim and paid the price—splash! Her tail went soggy. The fifth bubble popped on her nose and whispered, “Giggle fizz.”
Nola laughed so loud the bubbles bounced higher. She scooped the duck close and called, “Come hear this!” Soon every plip, plip, plip sounded like a tiny cheer from the warm towel pile.
