🎨 How to color it

Use tomato red for the mushroom cap, cream for the stem, forest green for the bushes, and golden brown for the big oak leaf. Chunky crayons are perfect for the wide cap and tree trunk; toddlers can color right over the thick lines if they want. Try making each round spot on the cap a different sunny color, like yellow, orange, and peach.

Under the tall tree, Nori sipped cool dew. Plip, plop, plip. The grass smelled wet, and the hill felt soft under Nori’s round stem.

A brown oak leaf slid close with a dry swish. Nori leaned in. “What do you know?” whispered the leaf.

Then the leaf was not asking Nori. It was asking the tiny ant riding on its tip. The ant waved one feeler: hello!

Nori listened harder. Plip, swish, hello. Next time you see the big leaf, can you find the little hello?
