Under the hush-hush sky, Vela tucked her nightcap low and reached for one soft cloud tuft to warm her toes. The cloud nook smelled like rain and vanilla, and the wind went swish, swish, swish.
She scooted out from her cozy dip and followed a tiny sneeze. Beside the crescent moon sat a moon-mouse, whiskers sparkling, paws tucked tight. Vela had only one best tuft. She sighed, patted it smooth, and wrapped it around him. “For you,” she whispered.
The mouse curled close and left a silver crumb of moon-warmth in Vela’s cap. She went back with no tuft, but her hat glowed softly all night; can you spot the pom-pom that kept the hush-hush sky warm?
