🎨 How to color it

Color the mushroom cap strawberry red, its round spots creamy white, the stem pale peach, and the grass and side leaves two fresh greens. The cap spots and striped gills are just right for chunky crayons, and it is okay if little hands color over the bold lines. Try making the scalloped skirt under the cap a soft butter yellow so the smile looks extra sunny.

The story behind this coloring page

Pip and the Quiet Bell — Under the fern leaves, Pip tapped his little bell. Clink. Read the full story →

Under the fern leaves, Pip tapped his little bell. Clink. It sounded dry as a seed shell. He wanted one moon-drop to make it sing again, so he stepped past his cozy moss patch and followed the silver snail trail. The air smelled wet and leafy. Drip, drip, drip went the dark ferns, but every drop slid away before Pip could catch it.

At the pebble bend, Pip waited. His toes grew muddy. A beetle whispered, “Try where nobody looks.” Pip sighed and lifted the edge of his big spotted cap. There, tucked beside the soft striped gills, a tiny pearl drop trembled and rang, ting! He carried it home, slower than before, and his bell sang bright in the moss. Next time you see Pip’s smile, can you find the secret place where the quiet bell was hiding?
