🎨 How to color it

Layer the hedgehog’s body in warm chestnut, the spiral quills in deep forest green and bronze, and the two acorns in russet caps with golden tan shells. Use sharp colored pencils and work section by section through the knotwork, coloring one strand before the next so the over-under pattern stays clear. Try making the outer quill ring darker than the inner spirals, as if the whole hedgehog is sheltering a small autumn glow.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the hush of the knotwood grove, Keir left his fern-lined hollow for one dry oak leaf to mend the draft by his door. Frost silvered the roots; burrs caught in his spines, and he traded his warmest moss scrap to free a beetle’s leg without making a speech of it. Near the old standing stone, a cracked acorn clicked softly. Inside, where nobody would think to look, lay three barley grains and a folded blue petal. Keir carried them home, then slipped the grain beneath the sleeping field mouse’s sill. By dawn, his doorway still breathed cold air, but the hollow smelled faintly of blue petal and hush.
