🎨 How to color it

Color the hedgehog’s spines chestnut brown, the big apple ruby red, the broad leaves fresh green, and the little mushrooms tan with cream caps. Use chunky crayons or markers for the apple and belly, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the small spine marks, leaf veins, and berry circles. Try a golden yellow glow around the apple so it looks like the hedgehog is holding the brightest find in the grass.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the berry stems, Pip rolled a fat red apple onto a mossy stump. He wanted to make a bell for the mushroom glade, so he tapped the apple with a smooth pebble: tonk, tonk, tonk. The air smelled like wet leaves and sweet fruit. He tucked one leaf behind the apple for a handle and polished the skin with both paws until it shone.

Then the apple gave a tiny answer: tink! Pip held very still. A little seed beetle peeked from the stem hole, wearing a cap of yellow dust. “I was listening,” it said. Pip smiled and tapped again, softer this time, and the beetle tapped from inside. Together they made tonk-tink, tonk-tink, a small handmade song. Pip hugged his apple bell proudly in the quiet grass; can you spot the stem where the hidden listener first said tink?
