Under the violet hush, Pavo set himself a dare: follow one unbroken line across the night without lifting his glow. He stepped off his warm cloud shelf, where the mist smelled like rain on stone, and touched the first bright dot with one careful point. The line hummed softly. It led past sleepy cloud curls, through tiny stars that ticked like glass beads, and toward a tall shape made of folded light.
Halfway around, Pavo’s glow snagged on a narrow crystal edge. Ping! A small spark chipped loose and drifted away. “Oh,” he whispered, but the line kept waiting, black and quiet between the dots. Pavo wanted to quit and hurry home with the spark he still had. Instead, he leaned close to the cold, smooth facets and heard a murmur inside them, like someone counting very slowly.
He followed the murmur around the last bend and found that the unbroken line was not a circle at all. It was a doorway-shaped star, wide enough for a curious thought to walk through. Pavo came back to his cloud shelf missing one spark, but carrying a new question: if a pattern could listen, what else could it remember? Next time you find the tiny chipped glow near the crystal sky, dare your eyes to follow one unbroken line across the violet hush.
