🎨 How to color it

Color the friendly ghost soft pearl white, the leaf pile golden yellow and pumpkin orange, the house warm tan, and the moon pale butter yellow. Use chunky crayons for the big ghost and house shapes, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the rake tines, window panes, and tiny stars. Try making the swirling wind curls light blue so the orange leaves look extra lively as they tumble around the yard.

Under the curly trees, Pip pulled his rake—scritch, scratch—to build the roundest leaf pile by the doorstep. He wanted to jump in it before the moon climbed past the roof. A cold wind puffed, and half his crispy pile skittered down the path.

Pip floated after it, paying with one torn ribbon from his sheet hem snagged on a fence picket. By the pumpkins, he found a sleepy moon-moth shivering under a maple leaf. “Share your crunch?” whispered the moth. Pip tucked the moth into the pile and raked slowly home, making a blanket big enough for two.

Soon the pile rustled with soft wings, warm leaves, and Pip’s giggle. His jump could wait. If you spot the rake by the leaves, can you hear scritch, scratch under the curly trees?
