Down the zippy grass path, Bram carried three clover bundles in his mouth—one for the sparrows, one for the turtle, and one for whoever was hungry next. Thump-thump went his paws. The park smelled like wet stones and sweet leaves after rain.
He trotted past the pond, under the curved bridge, and dropped the last bundle in the shady place where crumbs always disappeared. “Snack stop!” Bram called, though nobody answered. Then—plink!—a tiny bell sound came from above his nose.
Tucked under the bridge rail, where no runner ever looked, hung a little cup made from an acorn cap. Inside were berry bits, saved one by one by the ants Bram had been feeding all week. Bram grinned and left half his clover beside it. Next time you spot the bridge, see if you can guess where generosity was hiding after the thump-thump path.
