🎨 How to color it

Color the parrot bright lime green with a golden yellow beak, pink hibiscus flowers, and deep emerald palm fronds. Use chunky crayons for the parrot’s big belly and branch, then switch to a sharper crayon point for the narrow feather and leaf lines. Try giving the cheek patches a surprise coral color so the parrot looks ready to share a secret.

In the steamy green cove, a little parrot named Pip tapped his claws on a smooth branch and whispered, “Wait till they hear this!” He had made the best joke in the whole jungle, but the waves crashed shhh-BOOM and the palm leaves rattled too loudly for anyone to hear.

Pip leaned close to the branch, ready to pout, when a tiny giggle tickled his toes. Under the bark, where nobody ever looked, a hidden seedpod popped open—ha! ha! ha!—and tossed silver-sweet laughs into the air. Pip laughed so hard his chest puffed round. The hibiscus flowers shook. The palms shook. Even the sea seemed to snort.

So Pip tucked the giggle-seeds under every favorite perch. Ever since, parrots grin before they squawk, because their joy starts in the branch beneath their feet. Next time you spot Pip’s claws on that branch, can you keep his secret?
