🎨 How to color it

Color the parrot’s body bright turquoise, its beak sunny yellow, the berry branch warm brown, and the little leaves lime green. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big round belly and head, then try a sharper crayon point for the tiny berries and sparkle lines. Make the floating heart pink and add two darker blue stripes on the tail feathers for a playful surprise.

High in the leafy canopy, Zuzu clicked three red berries with his beak—tap, tap, tap! He had invented Berry-Branch Compass, a game where every berry meant a new direction. One tap meant scoot left, two taps meant bob right, and three taps meant shout, “Adventure!” Warm sun smelled like green leaves and sweet fruit.

Zuzu bounced along the branch, following his own berry clues. Leaves brushed his wings. Tiny sparkles of light jumped between the twigs. “North is wherever my toes wiggle!” he chirped.

Then the berries clicked back. Not from Zuzu—from underneath the branch! A line of shiny beetles was tapping the same game with their feet. Zuzu went still, then laughed so hard his cheek feathers puffed. His compass was also a beetle drum parade. If you peek at the berry branch, maybe you can spot where the next tap, tap, tap begins.
