🎨 How to color it

Layer the horse in burnished chestnut and deep mahogany, set the jagged peaks in slate blue and violet gray, and make the sunrise panels glow with amber, coral, and pale gold. Use sharp pencils for the mane, tail, and cracked-rock facets, keeping each stained-glass section clean by coloring from the black outline toward the center. For extra drama, let the stream below shift from icy turquoise to silver while the horse stays warm against the cool mountains.

The story behind this coloring page

Before the sun cleared the serrated peaks, Tavian raced the high pass for the ringing note that skipped ahead of his hooves. It flashed through the thin air like struck glass, down the stone ribs, over a thread of cold water, past grass that smelled sharp and green from the night frost. He did not need to catch it; following was better. Each turn of the path gave him another bright piece of the morning.

The note gathered under a ledge where the trail split into pale slabs. Tavian struck one hoof down, and the whole pass answered—not louder, but wider. Lines of gold opened in the stone, joining crack to crack, until the broken path became a map of the valley’s first light. What everyone had stepped over for years had been hiding the mountain’s sunrise from below.

Tavian lifted his head, mane snapping in the wind, and ran where the glowing lines invited him. Behind him, the stream took the same bends in silver, and above him the real sun rose exactly where the secret map had promised. The ringing note skipped ahead again, down the stone ribs.
