🎨 How to color it

Color the star cookies golden yellow, the snowflake cookies icy blue, the stockings cherry red, and the holly berries bright crimson. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny icing dots, snowflake branches, and ornament stripes, then fill the larger cookie centers with smooth marker strokes. Try making the tray pale silver and adding a soft cocoa-brown edge around each cookie so the frosting colors look extra festive.

The story behind this coloring page

The Tray That Shared December — Under the winter pantry stairs, Tansy lined up thirteen cookie cutters beside a tray that smelled of nutmeg and cold tin. Read the full story →

Under the winter pantry stairs, Tansy lined up thirteen cookie cutters beside a tray that smelled of nutmeg and cold tin. She had given herself a challenge: no two treats could carry the same secret. Star for wishes, stocking for surprises, tree for home—but by the fifth shape, her ideas crumbled like dry dough.

A tiny bell rolled from the flour bin and chimed once. Behind it, a narrow cupboard breathed out blue frost. Inside waited old icing bottles, each labeled with someone’s joy: Mina’s first snow, Arlo’s new puppy, Aunt June’s loud laugh. Tansy whispered, “These are too big for one cookie.” So she pressed every cutter into the dough and gave each joy a different shape.

When the tray warmed, the cookies shone as if every secret had found a place to sit. Ever since, holiday cookie trays have carried stars, trees, stockings, bells, ornaments, and snowflakes together—because a joy that big needs neighbors. If you count the shapes here, which one do you think held the loud laugh?
