🎨 How to color it

Color the octopus sunset orange, the sea turtle’s shell olive green with tan plates, the tall seaweed deep teal, and the branching coral bright coral pink. Use sharp colored pencils for the octopus suckers, turtle shell sections, and tiny fish, then switch to broader strokes for the open water currents. Try making the bubbles fade from pale blue at the top to nearly white in the center so they look glossy and light.

Every day, between the tall waving weeds and the lumpy coral mounds, Koa practiced his new game: Bubble Dash. He puffed one silver bubble, tagged it with a tentacle, and whooshed after it before it could wobble past the shells. Pop! Swish! The game made his whole body fizz with joy, but the reef stayed quiet except for the tickle of sand and the squeak of tiny fish fins.

Until one day, a sea turtle glided through the blue-green light just as Koa launched the biggest bubble yet. The bubble bounced off the turtle’s shell, split into six, and zipped in six directions. Because of that, Koa had to spin all eight arms at once. Because of THAT, the fish darted in to chase the fast ones, the turtle used her flippers like gentle gates, and the coral lane filled with laughing splashes.

“Everyone gets a bubble!” Koa called. At last, no one was racing alone. They passed the bubbles from fin to flipper to tentacle until the water rang with tiny pops. Next time you spot Koa’s curled arm, can you tell which bubble is about to start another Bubble Dash?
