🎨 How to color it

Color the elf’s striped hat cherry red and mint green, the coat sky blue, the big snowflake pale icy blue, and the little cabin warm brown. Use chunky crayons or washable markers for the wide coat, pond, and trees, and don’t worry if color skips over a line. Try making the curvy ice path light blue in the middle and darker blue along the edges so the elf looks like they are really gliding.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Pond Paths Wiggle — At the frozen bend, skritch-skritch went Nori’s skates as she tried to make one perfect circle for everyone to follow. Read the full story →

At the frozen bend, skritch-skritch went Nori’s skates as she tried to make one perfect circle for everyone to follow. The ice smelled sharp and clean, and her scarf tickled her chin each time she turned.

Then a snowflake bigger than her mitten floated down, trembling. “I’m too full of sparkle,” it whispered. Nori opened her arms and skated under it, laughing so warmly that the joy spilled from her feet. Her neat circle wiggled into loops, bends, and happy swoops for every skater behind her. Ever since, pond paths wiggle when joy is too big to keep still—and next time you see one, can you find Nori’s skritch-skritch trail?
