🎨 How to color it

Color the sea turtle’s body seafoam green, the shell plates teal and mint, the hearts coral pink, and the bubbles pale blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the many little hearts on the shell and flippers, then switch to smooth side-strokes for the long wavy current lines. Try making the top currents a gentle blue-to-purple gradient so the pink hearts look like secret signals drifting through the water.

The story behind this coloring page

Tala’s Patient Heart Tide — Under the moonlit current hall, Tala pressed one flipper to the cool water and tried to shape a perfect heart in the tide. Read the full story →

Under the moonlit current hall, Tala pressed one flipper to the cool water and tried to shape a perfect heart in the tide. She had given herself one small challenge: no racing, no fixing every wobble, only wait and nudge when the water whispered shhh-swish past her cheeks.

At first, the currents made lopsided loops. A bubble popped against her nose with a tiny plip, and three silver fish snickered behind a ribbon of sea grass. “Not yet,” Tala murmured, though her flippers tingled to hurry. She counted seven slow sways of the kelp, then moved only the tip of her left flipper.

That was when the secret happened. The crooked loops tucked into one another, the bubbles rounded the corners, and the waiting water folded itself into hearts—one, then many—floating along the hall like warm lanterns. Ever since that night, patient sea turtles have carried heart tides around their shells and flippers. Next time you spot the smallest heart near Tala, keep the secret: it began with one slow shhh-swish.
