Under a soft sand ledge, Luma tapped her flipper and listened: tick… tick… tick. She wanted the tiny sound for her quiet-shell collection, so she slid out past cool grass and pearly bubbles. A crab offered to hurry her along, but Luma moved slow, slow, slow. The seagrass brushed her cheeks, and one tick faded away.
At the meadow’s edge, a bright starfish giggled. “Wait with me,” it said. Luma waited while the water hummed. At last, the starfish lifted one arm, and there lay a shiny shell seed, ticking with trapped moonlight. Luma carried it home, softer and slower than before. Can you spot the starfish who kept the secret under one arm?
