🎨 How to color it

Color Townsend’s jersey deep navy, his helmet silver, the football warm brown, and the goalpost bright yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the jersey numbers, face mask bars, laces, and END ZONE letters, then switch to broader strokes for the grass and stands. Try a sunset fade behind the clouds so his raised football feels like it caught the last golden light.

The story behind this coloring page

Before the crowd arrived, Rafi tucked a small paper envelope into his glove and slipped from the locker room. He wanted one blade of grass from the end zone for his brother Nico, who listened to every game on the radio under a wool blanket. The stadium smelled like rain on rubber, and the goalpost hummed softly in the wind. Rafi had almost reached the painted letters when a brown speck fluttered down and landed on the football in his hand.

“Hey, little captain,” Rafi whispered. The bird’s feet were thin as sewing pins, and a twist of silver thread clung to one wing. Rafi paid his price in time: he missed the whistle for warmups while he eased the thread away, slow as sunrise. The bird shook itself, chirped once, and hopped onto the crossbar.

Later, when Rafi scored, he did not grab the grass. He lifted the ball high for Nico, for the bird, for every small traveler finding a place to rest. If you search the goalpost, maybe that brave speck is still watching the end zone grass ripple.
