🎨 How to color it

Color the ship’s hull sunny yellow, the heart anchor bright red, the portholes sky blue, and the little clouds pale lavender. Use broad crayon strokes for the big bow panels, then switch to a sharper pencil for the round portholes and tiny bubbles. Try making each smiling window a different soft color, like mint, peach, and baby blue, so the ship looks full of friendly passengers.

All morning, a tiny bell went ting-ting under Pip’s front rail. Pip had made a challenge: ring the three moon buoys before the sun slipped behind the pier. The harbor smelled like salt and warm rope, and the dock gulls blinked sleepily as Pip puffed away from the snug wooden posts.

At the first buoy, splash! A silver wave leaped up and soaked Pip’s bow. At the second, a sleepy seal blocked the way, so Pip waited, bob-bob-bobbing in the cool green water. “One more ding,” Pip whispered. At the last buoy, the bell rang so sweetly that every boat answered back. Pip came home with wet paint, a tired whistle, and a joy too big to keep—next time you see those smiling windows, can you hear the harbor going ting-ting?
