Under the warm shed roof, Pippa counted the flowers painted on her tiny mud flap. “Seven real flowers before lunch,” she whispered, and rolled out to try her own secret challenge. The meadow smelled like clover and warm dirt. She counted one, two, three—then her wheel bumped a flat stone with a tiny sun carved into it.
