🎨 How to color it

Color the narwhal’s body soft aqua, the spiral horn in alternating lavender and mint bands, and the shells peach and sandy tan. Use broad crayon or marker fills on the whale’s round body, then switch to a sharper pencil for the tiny bubbles, eyelashes, and seaweed lines. Try making the bubbles pale blue near the whale and pale purple near the stars for a magical undersea sparkle.

The story behind this coloring page

Tessa Counts the Silver Bubbles — Every day, Tessa swam over the seagrass flats and counted bubbles: one, two, three—whoosh! Read the full story →

Every day, Tessa swam over the seagrass flats and counted bubbles: one, two, three—whoosh! Her tail always swished too fast, and the bubbles popped against her horn before she reached one hundred.

Until one day, she set herself a bigger challenge: count only the bubbles that touched the old spiral shell. Because of that, she had to drift slowly through the tickly seaweed. Because of THAT, she heard a tiny clink-clink under the sand and waited instead of zooming away. At last, the shell opened like a little gate, and a stream of silver bubbles rose in a shining line. “Ninety-nine… one hundred!” Tessa cheered. Next time you spot the spiral shell, see if you can follow the bubbles as patiently as Tessa did.
