🎨 How to color it

Color Billy’s helmet cherry red with a yellow star, make The Downhill Duck bright blue, and use orange for the cones and warm green for the hillside trees. The car body, road curves, and big tires are wide enough for chunky crayons or broad marker fills, while the checkered flag works best with a sharp black pencil. Try a sunny yellow glow around the small sun so the winding track feels extra fast and cheerful.

At the top of Whistle Hill, Billy tapped the number 3 on his wooden car and whispered, “Three cheers before the finish.” The air smelled like cut grass and hot rubber. He pushed off, wheels humming zzz-zzz on the smooth track. By the first bend, his sister shouted, “Zoom!” Billy laughed and counted one. Near the pine trees, two twins clapped so hard their bracelets jingled. “Go, go, go!” That made two.

Then The Downhill Duck bumped over a tiny dip beside the ramp. Instead of a rattle, it gave a bright wooden “QUACK!” Billy’s mouth popped open, then he shouted, “That counts!” The crowd heard it too and answered with their biggest cheer yet, a rolling roar that chased him down the hill. Billy crossed the line with three cheers, four if you counted joy. Next time you spot his star helmet, listen for that zzz-zzz, quack, and the echo of three cheers.
