🎨 How to color it

Give the parrot seafoam green feathers, the big pirate hat a deep navy blue, the skull a soft ivory, and the spyglass shiny brass. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the parrot’s round body and the wide hat, then switch to a crayon point for the tiny claw stripes and feather lines. Try a warm yellow sun against pale blue clouds, so the brass spyglass looks extra bright when it points toward the palm tree.

The story behind this coloring page

Every day, Bixby polished the captain’s spyglass with a banana leaf and said, “All clear!” without ever looking through it. The glass made a squeaky whump near his beak, and the wide sea looked too wobbly. He liked the salty wind, the warm rail under his claws, and the safe little blur of faraway islands.

Until one day, the spyglass went rattle-rattle instead of whump. Because of that, Bixby shook it over the bow, and a tiny folded note slid out with a crumbly coconut smell. Because of THAT, the crew crowded close, and Bixby had to peek through the glass to read the note’s teeny arrow. His knees tickled, but he looked. The arrow pointed not to an island, but to the captain’s hat, where a cookie was tucked under the skull badge. “Treasure!” Bixby squawked, brave for one small peek. Next time you spot his spyglass, check whether it might still be hiding a crumb.
