🎨 How to color it

Color the dolphin in layered blue-gray, the striped reef fish in lemon yellow and tangerine, and the branching coral in coral pink with teal shadows. Use sharp colored pencils for the tight coral curls and fish stripes, then switch to smooth marker strokes on the dolphin’s broad back and belly. Try making the water fade from pale aqua at the sandy bottom to deeper blue near the wavy current lines above.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the noon-blue water, Soren nudged a flat white shell he called his moon button. It clicked against his tooth with a tiny tik-tik, the same sound his mother had made when storms hid the stars. He wanted one more click before the pod’s evening song, but the shell answered with a low hum and tugged from his mouth toward the dark side of the reef.

Soren slipped past striped fish and stinging coral fans, where the water smelled sharp as rain on stone. A crab guarding a narrow crack snapped, “Toll!” Soren gave him his favorite smooth pebble, and the crab let him through. Beyond the crack, bubbles rose in a perfect circle, and every hum from the shell became a note.

When Soren clicked the moon button in that circle, the reef clicked back—tik-tik, tik-tik—from hidden shells tucked in coral cups. The sound was not luck at all. It was the old meeting call of his pod, waiting inside the reef until someone remembered. Soren raced home with no pebble, but with a song that fit his chest exactly; next time you see him among the bubbles and striped fish, can you spot where the moon button led him?
