🎨 How to color it

Color the sun bright golden yellow, the round sunglasses sky blue, the cheek circles peach, and the puffy clouds pale lavender. The big spaces inside the sun and clouds are perfect for chunky crayons or broad marker strokes, while the triangle rays can be filled one by one. Try making every other ray orange so the sun looks extra warm behind its cool blue glasses.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Sunny Wears Shades — High above the berry fields, Sunny rolled gently toward the cloud nursery, where baby clouds shivered and squeaked like tiny wet sponges. Read the full story →

High above the berry fields, Sunny rolled gently toward the cloud nursery, where baby clouds shivered and squeaked like tiny wet sponges. Sunny wanted to warm them without making them melt, so each ray tiptoed out, soft as butter on toast. Then something silver fluttered up from the last bit of night: a moon-moth carrying two round shade petals, cool and smooth as creek stones.

“These are for your bright eyes,” whispered the moth. Sunny slipped them on, and the whole sky sighed, hushhhh. The rays stayed warm, but the glare grew gentle; the baby clouds puffed into cozy pillows around Sunny’s face. Ever since then, on the brightest summer days, the sun wears round sunglasses so everyone below can feel warm and welcome. Next time you see those clouds cuddled close, can you spot where Sunny belongs?
