🎨 How to color it

Color the snowman’s hat sky blue, the ribbed scarf cherry red and mint green, the hockey stick tan with navy tape, and the light-strung trees deep evergreen. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny bulbs, snowflakes, stars, and scarf stripes, then switch to smoother marker fills for the round snow body and open ice. Try making the puck a bold black circle with a frosty blue shadow so it looks ready to slide under the curved blade.

Every evening, Fenn set himself one silly challenge: tap his puck through every moon-shaped snow-shadow along the rink boards before the pine lights blinked twice. Clack, slide, clack—his striped stick whispered over the ice, and his carrot nose tingled in the peppermint-cold air. He never kept score where anyone could see.

Until one night, the puck thumped into a mitten frozen stiff beside the smallest tree. Inside was a cracked hand-warmer packet and a note: FOR WHOEVER GETS COLD FIRST. Because of that, Fenn tucked the packet under his scarf. Because of that, he noticed more hidden troubles—a loose skate lace, a dim bulb, a bench dusted too deep with snow. One by one, he fixed them between taps, pretending each rescue was part of his ridiculous route.

At last the lights blinked twice, and Fenn reached the final shadow with no cheers, no witnesses, and one very smug smile. “Perfectly sneaky,” he said. Next time you spot his puck near the curved blade, count the snow-shadows and see where his secret parade might slide next.
