🎨 How to color it

Color the dolphin sky blue, the polka-dot party hat cherry red and yellow, the Happy Birthday banner teal, and the balloon bunches in pink, orange, purple, and lime. Use sharp pencils for the small banner letters, hat dots, star balloons, and fish fins, then switch to broader strokes for the dolphin’s smooth body and open water bands. Try making the big splash white with pale aqua shadows so the birthday jump looks extra bright against a soft blue sea.

The story behind this coloring page

Finn Shares the Splash Cheer — Under the noon-bright water, Finn tapped his tail on the sandy floor: swish, swish, boom. Read the full story →

Under the noon-bright water, Finn tapped his tail on the sandy floor: swish, swish, boom. He had invented a game called Splash Cheer, and he wanted one perfect sound to send his little cousin Pru on her birthday. The float circle felt warm and safe, but the cheer sounded too small there, so Finn slipped past the bobbing ribbons and into the wider tide.

He borrowed a clap from two shells, a hum from a sleepy ray, and a tiny pop from a bubble that smelled like salt and sweet kelp. The price was his best silver pebble, traded to a crab who guarded the loudest echo under a flat rock. Finn missed its smooth weight at once, but the echo rolled through him like a drum.

Back at the party tide, Finn sprang high and poured every sound into one shining splash. “For Pru!” he called, and the cheer burst so wide that the fish wiggled, the balloons tugged their strings, and Pru laughed bubbles through her nose. If you ever see a birthday splash frozen in midair, listen closely for swish, swish, boom.
