Every morning, Zuri zipped through the surf lagoon, bumping drift sticks away from the baby turtles’ path. Splash-swish, splash-swish! She liked the salty spray on her nose and the slap of waves against the sandbar.
Until one day, a round beach ball bounced from the sky and bonked her beak. A tiny wind bird clung to it, feathers ruffled like wet paper. “My nest blew past the palms!” it peeped. Because of that, Zuri pushed the ball high above the waves. Because of THAT, the wind caught it and carried the bird toward the tall trees. No turtles saw. No gulls cheered. Zuri only smiled, nose up in the foam. Can you spot the ball that helped the wind bird fly home?
